Raising the Roof

Wow! What a fantastic evening we had at our Raise the Roof concert on 16th May. Tickets were sold out and the church was packed for this entertaining evening of music from singers, handbell ringers, organ, piano and Streetwize duet with guitar, ukelele and Cajon drum. Audience singalong was a great success, particularly in the finale when Phil played Pomp an Circumstance March No 1 and everyone sang Land of Hope and Glory. The sound was so incredible it very nearly did raise the roof. £802 was raised for the roof repairs. Thank you to all the entertainers and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this such an enjoyable and successful event.

Three days later we had to put on our dancing shoes for a Ceilidh, held at The Grange in Carleton. Odd Sock Ceilidh Band from Sheffield provided the music and one of their group also performed some traditional clog dancing for us. As the for rest of us, there was more laughing and stumbling around but there were a few more professional dancers who showed us all how it was done. There was even time for pie and peas supper. £701 was raised for the roof fund. Thanks to all the organisers.
